How do I log a workout on a client's behalf?

Record an in-person session set by set from the dashboard, save progress as you go, and discard the results if you need to.

When a client trains with you in person, you can log the session for them from the web dashboard instead of asking them to enter it in the client app. This is called coach logging.

Log a workout for a client

  1. Open the client's Calendar, or their Overview's "Things to do today", and start Log workout on the workout.
  2. Enter the results set by set, including weights on interval exercises.
  3. Save your progress and come back later, or finish the workout.

The drawer warns you before closing with unsaved changes.

When coach logging is available

What your client sees while you log

While you're logging, the client sees "This workout is currently being logged by your coach." in the client app and can't start it themselves. On the calendar, the workout shows the Coach Logging status.

If you'd rather hand the session back, abort logging and the client can start it as normal.

Discard coach-logged results

Afterwards, the workout's results page shows a banner — "This workout was logged by you on behalf of the client." — with a Discard results action if you need to undo it.

Things to watch out for

A coach-logged completion sends no "workout completed" notification. Those only fire when the client completes a workout themselves, since you already know a session you logged is done.

A client can only have one workout in progress at a time. If a client says they can't start their session, check whether you left a coach-logging session open on it.
