How do I build a phased program?

Create a multi-phase, week-based program, add workouts to each phase, and schedule them onto the weeks of the phase.

Phased programs are multi-phase, week-based programs — the Phased programs tab on the Programs page. Each phase runs for a set number of weeks, and you place its workouts on the days of the week they should land on.

Programs live on the web dashboard under Training → Programs. The coach mobile app serves the same dashboard, so everything here works there too.

Create a phased program

  1. Go to Training → Programs and, on the Phased programs tab, click New program.
  2. Name it — up to 60 characters.
  3. Choose the duration: the number of phases (1–50) and the weeks per phase (1–16).
  4. Click Create program.

The editor opens with three tabs — Training Phases, Subscribed Clients, and Calendar View — and saves your changes automatically as you work.

Manage phases

From the Training Phases tab you can:

  • Add a phase, with a name of up to 50 characters.
  • Rename, change duration (1–16 weeks), duplicate, or delete a phase from its row menu.

Add workouts to a phase

Inside a phase, click New workout to build one from scratch with the full workout builder, or import an existing one:

  • From workout library — copies of workouts you've already built.
  • From other program — reuse work from another program.

Each workout row's menu offers the workout builder, Rename (up to 100 characters), Duplicate, Copy to phase, Save to library, Schedule, and Delete. You can select several workouts and delete them in bulk, 10 at a time.

Schedule phased workouts on the calendar

  1. From a workout's row menu choose Schedule, or work from the Calendar View tab.
  2. Pick the days of the week, per week of the phase, that the workout should land on.
  3. Confirm.

The Calendar View tab shows where every workout in the program falls.

Duplicate and delete phased programs

The Phased programs list is searchable by name. Each row's menu offers Edit, Duplicate, Copy to client, and Delete. Deletes, single or bulk, are limited to 10 programs at a time.

Things to watch out for

Deleting the master program doesn't touch clients. Workouts already copied to client calendars are snapshots and stay exactly as they are.

Editing the master doesn't reach clients either — each client has their own independent copy. Edits to a client's copy apply to any workout they haven't started yet, because phased workouts only become fixed once the client starts them.
