How do I create a community?

Create a shared community space with a name, description, and cover — and get its matching group chat automatically.

A community is a group space where you and a selection of your clients share a feed of posts, photos, videos, voice notes, and polls. Clients never join on their own — you add them.

Communities are managed from the Communities page in the main menu, also reachable from Tools. The page lists your communities with cover, description, member avatars, and created date, ten per page, with a search box that matches community names.

Create a community

  1. Go to Communities and click Create community.
  2. Give it a name. This is required and can be up to 100 characters.
  3. Optionally add a description — the form allows up to 300 characters — and a cover image.
  4. Click Create community. You land inside the new community, ready to add members and post.

New communities start with members allowed to post and comment, and all of your own notification alerts turned on.

Every community comes with a group chat

Creating a community automatically creates a matching group chat in Messages, with the community's name and its cover as the chat's avatar. Your group gets two spaces: the thread feed for discussion, and the chat for real-time conversation. From the chat's details you can jump straight back to the community.

Adding or removing community members updates that chat's membership to match. Editing the chat's member list in Messages changes the chat only.

Change a community's name, description, or cover

  • Click the pencil next to the community's name in the breadcrumb to edit the name, description, and cover in one modal.
  • Or use Upload cover on the community hero to change just the cover image.

Members see the new details in the client app.

Delete a community

From the Communities list, open the community's row menu, choose Delete, and confirm. The community and its entire feed — threads, comments, reactions, polls — disappear for you and every member, and can't be brought back.

Things to watch out for

  • Renaming a community or changing its cover doesn't rename its group chat or update the chat's avatar. The chat keeps the name and image it was created with.
  • Deleting a community doesn't delete its group chat. The chat stays in Messages as a regular group chat with the same members, unlinked from the community and without its cover-image avatar.
  • In a team workspace, communities belong to the head coach's account. Team members work on the head coach's communities and can only add or remove clients assigned to them.
  • A client who has the Community feature switched off won't see communities in the client app.
