How do I create and organize exercises in my exercise library?
Create custom exercises, copy built-in Fitsly ones, and organize the library with tags, filters, and sorting.
Your exercise library is the foundation of every workout you build. It combines the built-in Fitsly exercises — ready-made, with videos, and read-only — with custom exercises you create yourself.
Exercises live on the web dashboard under Training → Exercises. The coach mobile app serves the same dashboard, so everything here works there too.
Create a custom exercise
- Go to Training → Exercises and click New exercise.
- Give the exercise a name, up to 100 characters.
- Under Details, pick a primary focus — the muscle group or body area. This is required. Optionally add a modality (strength, cardio, mobility, yoga and more) and tags.
- Under Category, choose a tracking type. This decides what clients log by default: StrengthBodyweightTimedLong DistanceShort Distance
- Optionally adjust the tracking columns — up to three metrics clients log per set.
- Optionally add photos, a demonstration video, written instructions, and alternates — exercises clients can swap to mid-workout.
- Save.

Copy a Fitsly exercise into your custom library
Built-in Fitsly exercises can't be edited. Open one from the Exercises page and its preview offers Copy to Custom, which puts an editable copy in your custom library — that's how you make your own variation of a built-in movement. Any exercise can also be duplicated from its row menu with Duplicate.
Organize exercises with tags
- Go to Training → Exercises → Tag Manager.
- Create tags of up to 25 characters — letters, numbers, and spaces. For example, "dumbbell only".
- Attach tags when editing an exercise, then filter your library by them.
The Tag Manager shows how many exercises each tag is attached to, and lets you rename or delete tags.
Search and filter the exercise library
The library has a text search plus filters for source (Fitsly or Custom), exercises with video, category (tracking type), modality, primary focus, and tags. Sort by Recent, Name (A–Z), Primary Focus, Category, or Source. Each row has a quick view that shows the video, details, and instructions.
Remove an exercise from your library
Use the row menu's Delete, or select several rows and bulk-delete. This works for custom exercises and for built-in Fitsly exercises, which you can remove from your view of the library.
