How do I add videos and personalized instructions to an exercise?
Attach a demonstration video, photos, and written instructions to an exercise, and add per-workout coaching notes clients see mid-set.
Every exercise in your library can carry a demonstration video, photos, and written instructions. Those travel with the exercise into every workout that uses it. On top of that, each exercise inside a workout can carry a note — a coaching cue for that workout, attributed to you.
Exercise media is edited on the web dashboard under Training → Exercises.
Add a demonstration video to an exercise
- Go to Training → Exercises and open a custom exercise, or click New exercise.
- In the video section, pick one source. Upload a videoYouTube linkSystem videoNonedefault
- Save.
| Video source | What it is | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Upload | Your own footage | MP4 or MOV, up to 400 MB |
| YouTube link | Any valid YouTube URL | — |
| System video | The original Fitsly demonstration | Only on exercises that started as Fitsly exercises |
| None | No video shown | — |
Large uploads resume automatically if the connection drops. After uploading, the video processes for a short while, and the exercise can't be saved until processing finishes.
Add photos and written instructions
In the exercise editor you can add up to 4 photos and written instructions. When an exercise has no video, the first photo becomes its cover image. Instructions are your own setup and technique cues, and they show in the exercise's preview.
Add a coaching note for one workout
Instructions live on the exercise. When you want a cue for one workout only — a load target, a technique focus — add it in the workout builder instead.
- Open the workout in Training → Workouts.
- On the exercise card, add a note.
- Save the workout.
The note is shown to the client on that exercise, attributed to you.
Add alternate exercises clients can swap to
Alternates are exercises a client can switch to mid-session, usually for equipment or preference. Save them on the exercise itself so every workout starts from that list, then add or remove alternates per workout from the exercise card in the builder.
