Health data comes from your client's phone, not from a connection you make. On an iPhone the source is Apple Health; on an Android phone it is Health Connect. Once the client links it in the client app, their steps, sleep, body weight and workouts flow in automatically.
Your side is read-only. You can't connect or disconnect a client's platform, trigger a sync, choose which data types come through, or edit synced values. What you can do is view everything on the client's Integrations tab, and send them their wearable's setup steps.
How the connection works
- The client opens Profile → App Integrations in the client app and taps Connect Apple Health or Connect Health Connect.
- The phone shows its own permission screen and the client allows the data types.
- The first sync starts immediately and backfills history.
- Data appears on your client's Integrations tab — connection status, a health metrics grid, and their recent workouts.
A client only ever syncs from the platform their phone runs, so the other chip on your Sources card stays Not connected.
Where wearables fit
Wearables are never connected directly. Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, Oura, WHOOP, Polar, COROS, Samsung Health and Pixel Watch all share their data with Apple Health or Health Connect, and the client app reads it from there. If it syncs to Apple Health or Health Connect, it syncs to Fitsly — no extra login. Samsung Health and Pixel Watch share with Health Connect only, so they work on Android phones.
What syncs and where it lands
| Data | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Steps | The client's habit measured in steps, plus the health charts |
| Sleep | The client's habit measured in hours whose name contains "sleep" or "slept", plus the charts |
| Weight | The client's Weight progress metric, plus the charts |
| Workouts | The workouts list on both your side and the client's |
| Active energy, body fat, heart rate | The health charts only |
What each platform can do
| Limit | Apple Health (iPhone) | Health Connect (Android) |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum OS | iPhone with Apple Health | Android 9 (separate app from Google Play on 9–13, built in from 14) |
| History on first connect | 3 months | 3 months with history access, 30 days otherwise |
| Workouts shown | 12 most recent | 12 most recent |
| GPS routes on workouts | Yes, when recorded | Never |
| Background sync | When Apple Health records new data | Android 14+ with background access, about every 15 minutes |
| Health metrics window | Last 30 days | Last 30 days |
Things to watch out for
- A client shows as Connected once their device has sent any data in the last 7 days. If they turn access off on their phone, both sides keep showing Connected until 7 days pass with no data, then your view changes to Not syncing.
- Today is never final. Each sync re-sends the current day, so today's steps, sleep and active energy keep changing until the day is over.
- MyFitnessPal and Cronometer appear in the Soon row and can't be connected.
