How do I set default settings for new clients?
Understand what a new client inherits by default, and use an onboarding flow to apply your own feature settings and content the moment they join.
Fitsly doesn't have a single "defaults" screen. A new client picks up some settings from you automatically, and anything else you want applied to every new client goes into an onboarding flow that runs the moment they join.
What a new client inherits automatically
| Setting | What a new client gets |
|---|---|
| Feature toggles | All ten on — Training, Nutrition, Calendar, Messaging, Check-ins, Habits, Progress Photos, Body Metrics, Vault, Community |
| Units of weight and length | Your own settings, changeable in the new-client form |
| Timezone, date format, country | Yours, until the client completes their own setup |
| Coaching mode | Online |
| Status | Pending, until they finish signup |
Because anything you never explicitly switch off counts as on, the practical default is "a client can see everything".
Set your own defaults with an onboarding flow
An onboarding flow is a bundle of content and feature settings applied all at once when a new client joins. Build one and attach it to every client you create, and you have defaults in everything but name.
- Open Tools → Onboarding and click New flow.
- Name the flow and click Create flow.
- In the editor, set the Enabled Features toggles — the same ten switches, grouped by area. CoreTrackingContent
- Add any content you want every new client to start with: programs, nutrition plans, check-in forms, one-time forms, habits, vault collections and resources, and automations.
- Click Save.
Core covers Training, Nutrition, Calendar, and Messaging; Tracking covers Check-ins, Progress Photos, and Body Metrics; Content covers Habits, Vault, and Community. All ten toggles in a flow default to on, and any toggle the flow doesn't set counts as on.
Apply the flow to new clients
- When you add a client — pick the flow in the optional Onboarding flow section of the new-client form. A preview shows everything it bundles.
- When a client buys a package — attach a flow to a payment package, and anyone who purchases it is onboarded automatically after checkout.
The flow runs the moment the client activates their invited account or completes checkout. Bundled content is assigned immediately and silently, the feature toggles are applied, and any included automations start with that day as week 1, day 1.
Change settings for a client who's already on your roster
Onboarding flows only run once, at join, so editing a flow changes nothing for existing clients. To change an existing client, open their profile:
- Settings → Feature Control for the ten feature toggles.
- Settings → Preferences for units of weight and length, and their timezone.
Feature toggle changes reach the client app on its next account refresh — every 14 minutes while the app is open, or when they reopen it.
