How do I add alternate exercises to a workout?

Attach alternative exercises your client can swap to mid-session when equipment is busy or a movement doesn't suit them.

Alternates are substitute exercises a client can switch to during a session, for equipment or preference. You control which exercises are offered.

Alternates are set in two places: on the exercise itself, which becomes the starting list everywhere it's used, and on the exercise card inside a specific workout.

Save alternates on an exercise

  1. Go to Training → Exercises and open a custom exercise, or click New exercise.
  2. Add alternates — the exercises a client can swap to.
  3. Save.

Every workout that uses this exercise starts from that list of alternates.

Add or remove alternates for one workout

  1. Open the workout in Training → Workouts.
  2. Open the exercise card's menu and choose Add alternates, then add ones that fit this session or remove ones that don't.
  3. Save the workout.

Your changes here apply to this workout only.

How swapping works for the client

Swapping is available to the client mid-session, and only on exercises you attached alternates to. When they swap, the alternate replaces the original exercise for that session — they perform and log the alternate instead. Choosing the swap is the client's call.
