How do I assign a meal plan and customize a client's copy?

Assign a plan to one or many clients, tailor each client's independent copy, and remove a plan when it's no longer needed.

Assigning a meal plan gives each client their own copy of the plan, taken at the moment you assign it. From then on the copy is independent: you can customise it per client, and editing or deleting the library plan never changes what an assigned client sees.

A client can have several plans assigned at once and switches between them in the client app.

Assign a plan to one or many clients

  1. On Nutrition → Meal Plans, open a plan's row menu and choose Assign mealplan.
  2. Pick one or more clients by search or tag filter. Archived clients don't appear.
  3. Confirm.

Each selected client receives their own copy plus a "Meal Plan Assigned" push notification naming you as the sender. There's no upper limit on how many clients you can assign to at once.

Assign a plan from a client's profile

  1. Open the client's profile, go to the Nutrition tab, then Meal Plans.
  2. Click Assign plan and pick a plan from your library.
  3. The client's copy opens straight in the editor, so you can tailor it before they see the finished version.

The list shows every plan assigned to that client, when each was last updated, and Edit and Remove actions.

Customize a client's copy

Editing from the client's Meal Plans list changes that client's copy only — the library plan and every other client's copy stay untouched. The editor works exactly like the meal plan editor: days, meals, options, foods, and recipes. No notification is sent for edits.

If the client has macro targets set, the editor shows them alongside each day's totals. Calories read as "1,850 / 2,000 kcal", each macro shows its gram target, and a pill tells you how far over or under the day sits. Days inside the variance band are marked On target. Only the client's default daily targets are used — date overrides don't apply, because plan days aren't tied to calendar dates.

Remove a plan from a client

Click the remove action on the assigned plan and confirm. The plan disappears from the client app; the client's logged food history stays.

You can assign the plan again at any time — the client then gets a fresh copy of the current library version.

What the client sees

Assigned plans appear in the client app's Meal plans tab. The client picks which plan and which day to view, chooses between meal options, and can log a single item, a whole meal, or a recipe straight into their food log.

Assign plans through onboarding flows

Meal plans can be attached to an onboarding flow, and each attached plan is assigned when the flow runs. Flow-driven assignments arrive silently — the "Meal Plan Assigned" push notification is not sent.

Things to watch out for

  • There is no coach-side "active plan" switch. If a client has several plans assigned, they choose which one they're following. If you want them on one plan, assign only that plan.
  • Editing your library plan does nothing to clients who already have it. To change what a client follows, edit their copy from their profile.
  • Deleting a library plan doesn't warn you about existing assignments, and doesn't affect them.
