How do I build a meal plan?

Structure a plan as days, meals, and options, fill them with foods and recipes, and watch calories and macros tally as you build.

A meal plan is a multi-day structure. The plan holds days — Training day, Rest day, High carb day — each day holds meals, each meal holds one or more options that the client picks between, and each option holds foods and recipes. Calories and macros tally automatically as you build, and the Meal Plans list shows each plan's average daily macros and calories.

Create a meal plan

  1. Go to Nutrition → Meal Plans and click New meal plan.
  2. Enter a name (required, up to 100 characters) and an optional description (up to 300), then continue. The full-screen editor opens.
  3. Build on the starter day — a new plan opens with a "Sample day" containing "Meal 1" and "Option 1".

Work with days

The strip across the top of the editor lists every day in the plan, with each day's calorie total on its chip.

  • Add day — name it anything, or pick a quick suggestion. New days start with one meal and one option. Training dayRest dayHigh carb dayCutting dayRefeed day
  • Rename a day, move it left or right, or duplicate it — the copy gets "(Copy)" added to the name.
  • Delete a day — you'll be asked to confirm. A plan must always keep at least one day.

Build meals and options

  1. Add, rename, reorder, duplicate, or delete meals within a day. Each day keeps at least one meal.
  2. Give a meal several options when you want the client to choose between alternatives — two different breakfasts, say. Each meal keeps at least one option.
  3. Add foods and recipes to an option. Foods come from the verified database or your custom foods, and you can create a new custom food on the spot. Recipes come from the verified recipe database or your custom recipes.
  4. Adjust any food's serving, reorder items, or remove them. You can also edit a recipe inside the plan — its foods, servings, cooking time, instructions, and notes — without touching the library recipe.

Read the day totals

Each day's header shows live calorie and macro totals with a macro split, plus an expandable micronutrient panel totalling 15 micros for the day. Micros scale with serving amounts the same way macros do. Because options are alternatives, day totals count only the selected option in each meal (the first option if none is selected), not every option added together.

When you're editing a client's assigned copy and that client has macro targets, calories read as "current / goal kcal" with a pill judged by the client's variance band: On target, or how far over or under the day sits, such as "+120 kcal". Only the client's default daily targets are used here — date overrides don't apply, because plan days aren't tied to calendar dates.

Save and leave the editor

The header shows Unsaved changes while you have unsaved edits, and how long ago it was updated once everything is saved, with a status dot that flips between the two. Saving requires the plan to have a name, and navigating away with unsaved changes warns you first.

Duplicate or delete a meal plan

From the Meal Plans list, each row's menu offers Edit, Assign mealplan, Duplicate, and Delete.

Duplicate creates a copy named after the plan with " - Copy" added.

Quick answers

If I edit a meal plan in my library, do clients who already have it get the changes?

No. Assigning a plan gives each client an independent copy taken at that moment, so library edits only affect future assignments. To change what a client sees, edit their copy from their profile → NutritionMeal Plans.
