To build a meal plan for a client, first create the plan in your Nutrition library (Nutrition → Meal Plans), add meals and food items, save it, then open the client's profile, go to Nutrition → Meal Plans, and use the Add button to assign the saved plan.
Build the meal plan
- In the left sidebar, click Nutrition, then click Meal Plans.
- Click New meal plan in the top right.
- In the Add new meal plan modal, enter a name (required) and an optional description, then click Create Meal Plan.
- The meal plan builder opens with a default meal called Meal 1. To rename it, click the pencil icon next to the meal name, enter a new name in the Rename meal modal, and click Rename Meal.
- Inside the meal, click Add food item.
- In the Add food items modal, use the Food Database, Custom Foods, or Create Food tab to find or create the food you want. Select one or more foods using the checkboxes.
- Click Add 1 Food (the button updates to reflect the number selected). The food appears under the meal with its calories, protein, carbs, and fats.
- Click Save meal plan in the top right. You'll see a confirmation that the plan was updated, and the app returns you to the Meal Plans library.
Assign the meal plan to a client
- Click Clients in the sidebar and open the client's profile.
- Click the Nutrition tab in the client header, then select Meal Plans.
- Click Add in the top right of the Assigned meal plans panel. (If no plans are assigned yet, you can also click Add Meal Plan in the empty state — both open the same modal.)
- In the Assign meal plan modal, check the box next to the plan you want to assign. You can select more than one plan.
- Click Assign meal plan. The assigned plan opens in the builder view.
Working with meals and foods
- Each meal has an Option layer (Option 1, Option 2, and so on), letting you offer multiple food sets per meal that the client can choose between.
- Use the Show Micros control on the meal or day summary to expand micronutrient detail.
- The builder shows a Changes not saved warning in the header until you click Save meal plan.
Things to watch out for
- The Meal Plans library and the client-level Meal Plans tab serve different purposes. The library is where you build and edit plans. The client tab only assigns plans that already exist in the library — you can't build a new plan directly from the client profile.
- The plan picker modal lists every plan in your library, not just plans for this client. Make sure you select the right one.
- Creating a meal plan does not assign it. You have to save the plan, then go to the client's profile and assign it as a separate step.
- The default meal is named Meal 1. Rename your meals (for example, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) before sending the plan to a client.
