To message your coach, tap the message icon next to your profile photo at the top right of the home screen. From there you'll see every conversation you're part of — tap one to open it and send a message.

Steps to send a message

  1. Open the Fitsly app and go to the home (dashboard) page.
  2. Tap the message icon next to your profile photo at the top right.
  3. Tap the conversation you want to open. If you haven't messaged your coach yet, tap the Message [Coach name] button on the empty state to start one.
  4. Type your message in the input at the bottom and tap the send button.

Who you can message

  • Your head coach. This is the coach who invited you to Fitsly.
  • Any coach assigned to you. When you open a workout, form, or other coach-assigned content, you can message the coach assigned to that item directly from that screen.
  • Group chats your coach adds you to. Your coach can create a group chat and add you to it.
  • Community group chats. When your coach adds you to a community, you're added to that community's group chat too.

You can't search for or message clients you aren't already in a conversation with, and you can't start a new direct chat with a coach who isn't your head coach or assigned to you.

What you can send

In any conversation you can send:

  • Text messages
  • GIFs — tap the paperclip, then choose a GIF
  • Photos — from your camera roll or by taking a new one
  • Videos — from your camera roll
  • Voice notes — tap the microphone icon to record

Start a conversation about a specific workout or exercise

You can also start a message from the thing you want to talk about. From a workout or an exercise inside a workout, tap the message option on that screen. The conversation opens with the workout or exercise attached so your coach knows exactly what you're referring to.

Set a nickname in a group chat

In group chats you can set a nickname for yourself instead of showing your full name.

  1. Open the group chat.
  2. Tap the chat header to open the group chat info screen.
  3. Find your own row in the Members list and tap the pencil icon next to it.
  4. In the Edit Nickname sheet, type your nickname (up to 50 characters) and tap Save. Leave it blank and save to clear the nickname and go back to your full name.

Your nickname only applies to that group chat — you can use a different nickname (or none) in each group.

Things to watch out for

  • The Message [Coach name] empty-state button always opens a chat with your head coach. To message a different coach assigned to you, open the related workout, form, or content and use the message option there.
  • The pencil icon for editing your nickname only shows on your own row in the Members list — you can't change another member's nickname.
  • Archived accounts can't edit nicknames or send messages.
