How do my clients access recipes outside an assigned meal plan?

Understand the routes a client has to recipes beyond a meal plan — saved recipes, their own meals — and what you control.

Verified Sep 12, 2026Client app

Recipes reach a client through the plans you assign, and the client app then keeps its own shortcuts to recipes a client wants to reuse. There's no separate switch that opens your recipe library to a client — an assigned meal plan is how your recipes get in front of them.

Assigned meal plans are the route from your library

Any recipe you add to a meal plan option travels with that plan when you assign it. The client opens the plan in the client app's Meal plans tab, taps a recipe, and sees its photo, description, ingredients, instructions, notes, and related recipes.

Because an assignment is an independent copy, the recipe details inside a client's plan are a snapshot. Editing the library recipe afterwards doesn't change plans that already carry it, and deleting the library recipe doesn't remove it from those plans.

Clients save recipes for later

A client taps the heart on a recipe's screen to save it. Saved recipes then live in two places in the client app:

  • The Saved tab of the add-food screen, split into Saved foods and Saved recipes, each searchable. A client can log a saved recipe straight from the list or remove it with its row action.
  • A dedicated saved-recipes screen with a search box and a saved count, reachable from the empty state on the meal plans tab.

A client who has no plan assigned sees that empty state, which offers Browse saved recipes and Message your coach.

Clients build their own recipes and meals

The My Meals tab of the add-food screen holds meals the client has built themselves, in a full editor: name, photo, servings, cooking time, ingredients added through the food picker, and numbered instructions. A client can also save a meal straight from food they've already logged, using the meal card's Save to My Meals.

Logging a saved meal adds every one of its items to the day and meal in one tap, and it groups in the diary just like a recipe.

Logging a recipe

Wherever a client opens a recipe — in a meal plan, My Meals, or Saved — the same controls apply:

Serves stepper
1–12 whole serves
Scales ingredients and macros live
Serves in the log sheet
0.1–20 serves
The stepper value carries in

A plan's prescribed serves are clamped into the stepper's range.
