What is the 2% service fee on client payments?
Fitsly takes a 2% platform fee on payments made through Fitsly Payments. By default your clients cover it at checkout; you can absorb it per package instead.
Fitsly charges a 2% platform fee on every payment your clients make through Fitsly Payments. It sits on top of Stripe's normal processing fee and covers what Stripe bills Fitsly for running your connected account and each payment through it.
Who pays it
Service fee paid by clients is on by default for every package. Your client sees a "Service fee" line at checkout on top of the package price, and you receive the full package price. On a $150 package the client pays $153.
Turn it off on a package and the 2% comes off your payout instead. Clients see no extra line. The fee is deducted automatically either way; there's nothing for you to invoice or pay separately.
What it applies to
- The package price, on every payment, including renewals.
- Setup fees too: a one-time "Service fee (setup)" line covers 2% of the setup fee, so you receive the full setup fee as well.
- Your storefront shows the fee-inclusive price (for example "$153.00 / month, incl. $3.00 service fee") so clients see the full amount before checkout.
- Free trials: no fee during the trial; it starts with the first paid invoice.
- Coupons discount the service fee line in proportion to the package price. Percent coupons are exact ($100 package, 50% off → $50 + $1 fee). Fixed-amount coupons are spread across the package and the fee, so on $50 off a $100 package the client pays $52 ($50.98 + $1.02) rather than $51, and you receive $50.98.
Existing subscribers
Clients who subscribed before the fee existed, or before you turned the setting on, are not charged it automatically. Their price stays as it was and the 2% comes off your payout for those subscriptions.
To move them onto the client-paid arrangement, open the package page and choose Apply service fee to subscribers. The fee line is added to each current subscription from its next invoice, with no partial charge today. Let them know first, since it raises what they pay.
Refunds
Refunding a payment returns the platform fee along with it, proportionally for a partial refund. The client gets the full amount back and you aren't out of pocket for the fee.
Where you'll see it
Each payment in your Payments dashboard shows the fee next to the amount: "incl. $3.00 service fee" when the client paid it, or "$3.00 platform fee deducted" when it came off your payout.

Can I pass Stripe's processing fee on to clients too?
Not through Fitsly. We don't offer card surcharging; the service fee is a fixed amount that's the same for every payment method. If you want to cover Stripe's fee, raise your package price.
