How do I use sections to structure a workout?

Group exercises into warm-up, main, cool-down, and recovery blocks, and switch a section to interval format for timed circuits.

A section is a named block of exercises inside a workout. Sections let you separate a warm-up from the main work, and let you run part of a session on a built-in timer instead of set by set.

Sections are built in the workout builder on the web dashboard, under Training → Workouts.

Group exercises into a section

  1. Open a workout in Training → Workouts, or click New workout.
  2. Click Add section and stay on the New section tab.
  3. Enter a Section name and choose a Section type. WorkoutdefaultWarm upCool downRecovery
  4. Choose the Section format. RegulardefaultInterval
  5. Add exercises into the section by picking them or dragging them in from the library rail.
  6. Save the workout.

Every section must contain at least one exercise before the workout will save.

Regular and interval section formats

  • Regular — traditional strength work. The client works through the exercises one by one.
  • Interval — a built-in timer for HIIT, Tabata, or circuit work.

Reuse a section across workouts

To save a section for reuse, open the section's menu in the builder and choose Save to library. In any other workout, click Add section and switch to the From library tab — the saved section comes in complete with its exercises.

Sections and supersets

A superset links an exercise to the one above it, and the first exercise in a workout or section can't start a link. Keep both exercises of a superset inside the same section.
